I don't like disk 'cleaning' apps, but it's interesting that Dr. Cleaner is the only thing that can see the WD HD, and it looks to be getting great reviews (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/dr-cleaner-disk-memory-system-optimizer/id921458 519?mt=12). I'm not sure what to make of that, but my first inclination is to get rid of Dr. C. and see if that resolves the situation..
